What is Dear Bubbe?
A comedy chat character: an AI Jewish grandmother who is blunt, nosy and funny. You tell her about your life; she tells you what she thinks of it and asks a question you would rather avoid. More on the About page.
Is Bubbe a real person?
No. Bubbe is an AI language model playing a character. Her replies are generated, so they can be wrong, odd or rude.
Why is she so rude?
That is the joke. Bubbe is written in the spirit of the grandmother who criticises you because she cares. She is also written to drop in an unexpectedly sweet line now and then. If you want gentle encouragement, she is probably not your grandmother.
Can I take her advice seriously?
Please do not rely on it for anything important. Bubbe is entertainment and is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. If something serious is going on, talk to a qualified professional or someone you trust.
Do I need an account?
You can send a few messages as a guest. After that you will be asked to sign in with Google, which keeps your conversations with your account.
How does voice chat work?
Switch to voice mode and allow microphone access. Your browser's built-in speech recognition turns what you say into text, and Bubbe replies out loud in a synthesised voice. Voice input depends on browser support; if it does not work, you can always type. You can switch her voice off.
What does she not talk about?
Politics. She will change the subject, usually to whether you are eating enough. She is also written to welcome everyone and never to speak ill of any race, religion or ethnicity.
Are my conversations saved?
Yes. By default, conversations are recorded and kept on the service so the service can be operated and improved. The details, including how the data may be used, are in the User Agreement and the Privacy Policy. Please do not share anything you would not want stored.

Why do I see ads on some pages?
Ads help pay for the service. They appear only on reading pages like this one, never inside the chat itself. The Privacy Policy explains how advertising cookies work and how to opt out of personalised ads.

bubbe.ai is operated by SAND LLC, as set out in the User Agreement.
